Bikini inventor
In 1936, Paula Stafford created the world's first ever two piece swim suit - known today as the bikini - after cutting a one piece in half.
But things really took off for Paula Stafford's bikini business in 1952 when a beach inspector spotted Sydney model Ann Ferguson at Surfers Paradise wearing one of Paula's "skimpy" creations, which caused a real stir.
Today the bikini is everywhere, and Paula has a park named after her for her contribution to beach fashion.
